Minutes of Regular Meeting
Monday February 13th, 2017
7:30 pm
Mayor Steve Sudbrink opened the regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. Roll was called Anderson, Bowman, Clark, and Cox answered present, Devlin and Behrends were absent. Alderman Devlin entered at 7:34 pm. A motion was made by Alderman Cox to approve the agenda for the month and seconded by Alderman Clark. Motion carried unanimously. The minutes of the January meeting were presented. Alderman Anderson made a motion that the meeting minutes be approves as submitted and Alderman Clark seconded. Motion carried unanimously. The monthly treasurer’s report was in the council’s monthly packet; Treasurer Barrett said there have been several changes in report, separate payroll and several categories have been combined. A letter was sent out regarding a late filing asking for a fee waiver for this, auditor requested. Checks have been ordered for accounts to minimize errors and it was requested that a few bills such as the AT & T phone bill and the Fuel bill be paid when received to avoid late fees, and this was granted. The video game revenue for the month of January was $ 2960.51, the year to date total is $ $23,314.03 and the sales tax figures the month of January were $ 9,909.36 with year to date total of $88,169.92. There was no transfer of funds this month. Monthly bills were presented. Alderman Clark made a motion and Alderman Anderson seconded that the bills be paid as presented. Motion carried unanimously.

Public Works (McClure): Working on putting on culverts and storm sewers, the pumps at the sewer plants were having problems but have been fixed, installed 106 radio reads. Cass Rural water has started project North of Virginia.
Police Chief (Boris): 216 calls for service, 6 arrests and 6 traffic citations
Fire Chief (Reynolds): 1 fire call; 1 trailer fire
Board Reports
Zoning (Merriman): No report
Park: (Cox): Meeting next Wednesday the 15th at City Hall 7pm
Library (Clark): Next meeting is February 21st, no Quorum for January meeting
Economic Development (Anderson): Met January 25th, need to replace Jessica Stock on board as she is stepping down. They also discussed the road going round the school. Next meeting is April 26th.
Cemetery (Behrends): Meet tomorrow the 14th

Clark: Volunteer Virginia put new entrance sign coming into town. Mayor added it looks awesome

Clerk’s Report: No Report
Mayor’s Comments: The mayor asked that the council appoint Erynn Snedeker to replace Jessica Stock on the Economic Development Board. The board was polled and all were in favor of the replacement. The mayor also wanted to thank the city for the acknowledgement of the death of his mother in law.

New Business: First up was the intergovernmental agreement between the city and the school regarding the road and parking area near school. A motion was made by Alderman Cox to approve this reading and Alderman Clark seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
With nothing further to discuss at this time a motion was made by Alderman Clark and seconded by Alderman Bowman to adjourn into executive session at 7:42 pm. Motion carried unanimously.
Roll was called back into open session at 8:27 pm Devlin, Anderson, Bowman, Clark and Cox answered present, Behrends was absent.
A motion was made by Alderman Clark to hire Tom Veith of Bellatti, Fay, Belatti & Beard, LLP as the new city attorney Alderman Cox seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
With nothing further to discuss a motion was made to adjourn at 8:29 pm by Alderman Clark and seconded by Alderman Bowman. Motion carried unanimously.
